These terms apply when you use the Iris Tutoring Centre website, book tutoring with us, or use the Iris GATE Practice Portal ("the Portal"). By booking a session, registering an account, or purchasing a subscription, you (or the parent/guardian registering on a student's behalf) agree to these terms.
Contents
1. Our services
Iris Tutoring Centre provides tutoring in Mathematics, English, Science, NAPLAN, GATE/ASET and ATAR preparation, together with the Iris GATE Practice Portal — an online tool offering mock exams, a practice question bank, trainers and progress reports. Tutoring is delivered by our tutors; the Portal is a self-directed and supplementary practice tool and is not a replacement for tutoring, teaching, or professional educational assessment.
2. Accounts and eligibility
Portal accounts are intended to be registered by a parent or guardian on behalf of a student, or by an adult student themselves. You're responsible for keeping your login email secure, since we use one-time email codes rather than passwords to sign in. You're responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide when registering.
3. Subscriptions, billing and cancellation
Portal access is offered on paid subscription plans (currently Weekly, Monthly and a discounted Student plan), billed on a recurring basis until cancelled. Payments are processed securely by Stripe; we do not store your full card details. You can cancel your subscription at any time, effective from the end of the current billing period, and you'll retain access until then. Unless required by law, fees already paid for a billing period are non-refundable, but if you believe you've been charged in error, contact us and we'll look into it.
Tutoring sessions booked separately from the Portal are subject to the scheduling, rescheduling and payment arrangements agreed with your tutor or discussed at booking.
4. Acceptable use
When using our website or the Portal, you agree not to: share your login or Portal access with people outside your own family/student for whom the account was registered; copy, scrape, redistribute, or resell mock exams, questions, model answers, or other Portal content; attempt to bypass access controls, tier restrictions, or copy/print protections on the Portal; or use the service in a way that disrupts it for other users or breaches any applicable law. We may suspend or terminate access for accounts that breach these terms.
5. Content and intellectual property
All mock exams, practice questions, model answers, trainers, written materials and other content on the Portal and our website are the property of Iris Tutoring Centre (or licensed to us) and are provided for the personal, non-commercial use of the registered student and their family only. You may not reproduce or distribute this content elsewhere. Written responses you submit remain yours, but you grant us the right to store, mark and process them (including via the AI-assisted feedback described below) for the purpose of providing feedback and tracking progress.
6. AI-assisted feedback
Written Expression practice responses may be scored using an AI writing-assessment feature (Anthropic's Claude API) alongside review by our tutors. AI-generated scores and feedback are indicative and provided to support learning — they are not an official or guaranteed prediction of results in the real ASET or any other exam. See our Privacy Policy for how writing submissions are handled.
7. Availability and changes
We aim to keep the website and Portal available and up to date, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted access — features, pricing, question content and these terms may change from time to time, including to add, remove or update mock exams and practice material. We'll take reasonable steps to let you know of material changes.
8. Liability
The Portal and our tutoring services are provided to support exam preparation, but results in any real exam (including the ASET/GATE test, NAPLAN, or ATAR-related assessments) depend on many factors beyond our control. To the extent permitted by law, Iris Tutoring Centre is not liable for exam outcomes, university or school offers, or indirect or consequential loss arising from use of our services. Nothing in these terms limits any consumer guarantee or right that cannot lawfully be excluded under Australian law, including the Australian Consumer Law.
9. Third-party community hubs
Some of our services link to optional Discord community hubs (for example, an ATAR support hub). These are run on Discord's platform and are subject to Discord's own terms and privacy policy, as well as any community guidelines we post there. We're not responsible for content posted by other members of these communities.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Western Australia, Australia, and any dispute will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Western Australia.
